The Connaught Hotel

In light of the royal wedding, I thought I would highlight luxury hotels in London. I stayed at the Connaught when I was 21 and clearly wasn't worthy of it at the time! It was really fabulous but I was too young to truly appreciate the hotel like I would now. I will never forget the linen sheets and the towel warmers in the bathroom. Claridges is known for their high tea. It is larger than The Connaught and also very beautiful. When I was at these hotels, it was required that people be dressed properly at all times. That means London standards...not American. I can assure you there were no signs reading, "No shoes, no shirt, no service"! Men were expected to be in coat and tie whenever not in the room. That's a tall order for a 21 year old American! The royal wedding will be fun to watch. Kate seems to have the same spark Diana once did. Splendid!
