Who's the fairest of them all? Mirrors, like many things in decorating can be amazing or unfortunate, depending on how they are used. I love the idea of using mirrors that have been "antiqued." In fact, people have gotten so good at it, sometimes it is hard to tell a genuinely old mirror from a reproduction. I also like mirrors to open up a space and make it feel more glamorous. The only time I don't like mirrors is when they resemble the eighties or look as if Vegas took a hold of your home. I also don't particularly like them right behind the person's head you are speaking to in a restaurant. Whether you are facing the mirror or your guest, someone is always either checking that bad stray hair or looking to see who is behind them - very distracting! One trick I am seeing lately is to add a mirrored beveled edge to frame an otherwise cheap looking stock mirror. It's inexpensive to do but makes a plain bathroom mirror look more upscale and finished. Just something to reflect on...
